Unfortunately my job leads haven’t been that great, so the stress was really high. Then at last, a week ago, I was given an offer. It may only be for three months, and it all around closing out this office for good. BUT, it’s something and it gives me more time to keep looking.
Now to the fun part, and explanation of the pictures. See I’ve been using my ‘down’ time at work for some personal project, just too keep myself form going insane (or bursting into tears). Can you guess which items below correspond to the pictures above and below?
- Using Visio to create floor plans for a variety of things (my own creative space, Mart’s house, Mom’s space arc, blanket design...)
- Working on completing Unearthing Magic (totally completed and partially 1/3 fist pass edited)
- Crocheting granny squares and using Visio to create a blanket design
- Reading through my Videra Phoenixes (aka Phoenixes of Vervell) with an eye for plot, character, setting and how to revise the darn thing so it all makes sense and flows well
As for the tea mentioned in the title, well...
My mom came down with fabric (color coordination
picked out by the daughter as well) all
cut out for our tea gowns. See my church has been having a Ladies Tea around
Valentines Day for four years and we like to make it a point to dress up for
it. This year we went with pseudo Regency dresses. Which my mom finished making
at about 1 am the night before... Whew. Go Mom!Now I need to keep working on the Granny Squares (I got about 20 more to go before I can start putting it together) and my Videra Phoenixes. Unearthing Magic will be put aside, as I’ve found one major writing project at a time is all I can do.
:} Cathryn LeighP.S. sorry for the delay, given the work situation you’d think I’d have been able to keep up *facepalm*)
Awwwww - I'm glad you found something, but I do hope something else picks up for you too! I know from watching my mum that being between jobs is right down there in the Thirteenth Pit of Suck.
ReplyDeleteReally gorgeous gowns, though, I must say - and very good luck with that quilt! I can't sew or knit for the life of me, and thus my admiration for the endeavour is high!
Heh. Now I have to find something else. Ah well... (And yes it is the thirtenth pit of suck, especially when you know your salary is an intrigal part of the budget).
DeleteYes, My mom is an AWESOME seamstress. All of these fabric peices, with the exception of the peach, were just scraps from various fabric sales, attic truncks, what have you. And the ones for her gown were the smallest peices of the lot (while my daughter gor the biggest! lol).
I shall have to remember to post a picture of the finished blanket. I decided I'm a crochet, rather than a Knit girl. Apaprently most people are one or the other. Go figure. :}
Awesome costumes! As for finishing things at 1am ... I know those feels. I have to make a corset out of two scraps of fabric and 14 cable ties in the next week and a half, for my World Book Day costume, as well as making the rest of the actual dress ... so I have a feeling I may be doing that again.
ReplyDeleteJobseeking also sucks. Father person is going crazy with cabin fever...
I'll let my mom know you like them. As to corsets made with Fabric and cable ties... Now That's Unique! (or a new idea to me at least). Good luck on finishing your costume on time.
DeleteYes, I need to get back at it more seriously. At least I'm not out of work yet, otherwise my hubby would probably tell me to go get a job somewhere - anywhere! (okay maybe not quite, but I know your father's feels - boy does that sound strange...) :}
